King’s Lynn Ferry Steps

Concrete Step

Repairs

As part of essential maintenance works the existing steps had to be cut back to the support beams with timber shuttering, built to allow the new steps to be re-cast in situ. The difficulty was casting new concrete steps before the tide came back and damaged the new steps. To overcome this, we used fast setting concrete. All of this was undertaken while the ferry service was temporarily closed to ensure safe and uninterrupted access

Handrail Post and

Rail Installation

As part of the safety upgrade works, a new handrail system was installed along the concrete steps to improve fall protection and access. A high-level barrier was constructed to prevent loose rocks and stones from the old pier structure falling on pedestrians.

Timber Structure

Tubular Bracing

The existing handrails were removed and new handrailing was installed on both sides of the steps to provide safety for pedestrians.
